1. Where can I travel with Desert Jet?

Desert Jet is authorized by the FAA to conduct on-demand flight operations throughout North America , Central and South America, and the Caribbean under its own FAA Part 135 certificate (1DJA318M). Additionally, we work with a national affiliate network comprised of hundreds of aircraft, enabling us to provide lift virtually anywhere, anytime, in any type of aircraft.

2. Isn’t it really expensive to charter a private jet?

Not necessarily. A day business trip from Palm Springs to Fresno for 6 passengers would cost under $6000. That is less than $1000 per person on a direct route that takes under an hour. This route and many other West Coast routes are impossible to do within a business day on an airline. Add the flexibility of departure times to suit you, from the airports closest to your departure and destination, with greatly reduced airport wait times and you’ll see very real savings.

3. Are small planes as safe as airliners?

Private jets operated by Desert Jet are just as stringently maintained as airliners and typically operate fewer hours per day than an airliner. Flight crews are very experienced as a corporate aviation career is considered more desirable and stable than a career flying for an airline. Several of the pilots now flying for Desert Jet were once captains at various airlines and then progressed into corporate aviation. 4. How far in advance do I need to book my flight?

We can be ready for any flight from the desert in as little as two hours. We recommend you make your reservation as soon as you know your travel plans.

5. How do I make a reservation?

Just contact us at (800) 381-JETS to make your travel arrangements. You will be assigned your own personal charter specialist. Each time you contact us, your designated charter specialist will promptly and professionally handle each and every aspect of your trip.

6. What hours do you operate?

We operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Our 24 hour service line is (800) 381-JETS.

7. What happens on the day of my flight?

If you choose, Desert Jet will arrange for a car and driver to bring you and your luggage to the airport. If you prefer to drive yourself, you’ll drive right onto the airport ramp where your aircraft and pilots will be waiting at least one hour before your scheduled departure time. Your luggage will be loaded onto the aircraft for you and your car will be kept in covered parking awaiting your return. All you do is board the aircraft! Within minutes you’ll be airborne and on your way.

8. Are meals served on the flight?

All of our aircraft come completely stocked with snacks and beverages that are complimentary.  If you would like a meal on the aircraft, our charter specialists can arrange any meal to be ready and waiting for you on your flight.

9. Can I bring my pet with me?

Of course! We love pets and realize that sometimes the hardest part of travelling is leaving your precious furry friends behind. We offer several complimentary amenities for our furry friends through our JetWags program that include special treats, a water dish and a comfy blanket to sleep on. For pet owners, amenities include magazines such as Bark, Modern Dog and Fido Friendly. Generally, well-behaved dogs are allowed off-leash in the cabin and can lounge just as if they were at home. Other pets may be transported on a case-by-case basis. With Desert Jet, you’ll never subject your pet to the stressful and inhumane conditions of a cargo hold.

10. What documents will I need to fly internationally?

Passports are required for all passengers for all trips outside the United States. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by both adults. If traveling with only one parent, the absent parent must submit notarized, verifiable permission three days prior to departure.

11. What is FET tax?

Federal Excise Tax is 7.5% of the total flight charges. This fee is collected by all charter and fractional operators.

12. What is a fuel surcharge?

A fuel surcharge is an additional fee charged by some operators, but not Desert Jet. Be sure to compare hourly rates carefully. Some operators will tease you with a low hourly fee and then sneak in a high hourly fuel surcharge (in some cases up to $500 an hour!) which substantially raises your hourly cost. At Desert Jet we believe in transparent, simple pricing, so you’ll always know exactly how much your trip will cost.

13. What are empty legs?

It is estimated that approximately 40% of all charter flights are flown without passengers aboard. These “empty legs” become available when an operator flies a client on a one-way flight and then needs to reposition the aircraft without passengers on board. These flights represent a great opportunity to fly at greatly reduced costs if there is scheduling flexibility. Desert Jet clients enjoy access to discounted pricing on empty leg flights on the aircraft we operate as well as the aircraft operated by our national affiliate network. Choose from hundreds of available aircraft every week traveling empty to destinations around the world. To join our email list of available empty legs, please click here.

14. What discounts do you offer if I am a frequent flyer?

We offer block charter discounts that progressively increase with purchases of 25, 50 or 100 hours. All funds are placed in an escrow account and are fully refundable should your needs change. Also, the funds never expire. You pay only for the hours you fly with no monthly management or maintenance fees. Our frequent flyers also receive priority scheduling preference on aircraft throughout our fleet.

15. I own my own aircraft but would like to offset my expenses. Can you charter my aircraft when I’m not using it?

Yes we can. We currently have demand for a midsize aircraft. Please contact our management team at (800) 381-JETS for more information or email info@desertjet.com.
